⚡️We are pleased to share a new publication:
Hemodynamical Evaluation of a New Surgically Implanted Pulsatile Right Ventricular Assist Device Driven by a Conventional Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump Console by Dr. Sara Knigge, Dr. Günes Dogan et all. ASAIO Journal 2024.
🔸 New Pulsatile Ventricle Assist Platform, pVAP
🔸 This platform builds on the proven IVAC 2L technology
🔸 Driven by standard IABP console
🔸 Compatible with all available standard cannulas
The main findings indicate that the pVAP is feasible and effective.
✅ the output flow of the pVAP is directly influenced by the pressure in the output chamber;
✅ the pVAP produces an output of 2.7 L/min;
✅ the pVAP has a minor, but observable, hemodynamic effect in healthy individuals;
✅ in cases of acute RVF, activating the pVAP significantly improves hemodynamics in both the pulmonary and aortic circulations.
🚩Conclusion: This initial experience with the pVAP prototype demonstrates its feasibility as a VAD and effectiveness in restoring hemodynamics in porcine models of acute RVF.
