A First in Human Report of iVAC 2L Percutaneous Ventricular Assist Device Supported VT Ablation

🫀 A First in Human Report of iVAC 2L Percutaneous Ventricular Assist Device Supported VT Ablation was presented by Dr. Melanie R Burg, Mater Dei Hospital, Malta during HRS2024 congress. The procedure was supported by Interventional Cardiology team Dr. Robert G. Xuereb, Chairman of the department of Cardiology and Dr. Matthew Mercieca Balbi.

Conclusions:
🔸 iVAC 2L maintained effective mean arterial pressure for 13 minutes during otherwise untolerated VT
🔸 iVAC 2L is a relatively inexpensive pVAD that can be inserted quickly and easily, and may be a viable option in the EP lab.
🔸 Driven by the already familiar IABP console, it can be adopted universally with little additional training.
🔸 It allowed easy antegrade LV access with minimal interference to multipolar catheter manipulation.
🔸 No interference with EGM quality or electromagnetic stability in an impedance-based mapping system were observed.
🔸 Wider experience across multiple centers is warranted to assess feasibility of this device to routinely assist high risk VT ablation procedures.
